Proof of Concept

The idea came out of a meeting with a client – how to share an experience from a person’s point of view. We had a great, new, compact camera that we’ve been dying to use.

We thought using this new camera in a “helmet cam” configuration might work. It would allows us to see things from the wearer’s perspective and it had the potential for fun. But we had a few questions about the quality of the footage. And would the average person (not a videographer) be able to capture usable video? We were looking at a 12-hour day and we wouldn’t have time to test it on the fly or train our amateur videographer.

This concept required a test run.

I strapped on the camera and went on a “mission” in downtown Manchester. It was a simple test, but it told us what would work, what wouldn’t and what we needed to tell our volunteer videographer.
